Alumni club ENERGO: graduate of Energo University held a meeting with students
On February 6, as part of the development of the Alumni Club ENERGO movement, Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev) hosted a meeting of students with a mentor and a 2013 graduate of the specialty «Automation and management», a member of the Board of Trustees of our university, technical director of RIZA GLOBAL LLP (engaged in the introduction of energy-saving and digital technologies) Madi Agybaev.
It was no coincidence that Madi Shingiskhanovich chose the topic for his meeting with future specialists, students of 3-4 courses: «Employment: how to start a career» After all, this issue is of particular concern to them. In his speech, the expert noted the importance of having a good employee not only professional competencies, but also so-called soft skills: the most important thing is to be honest and sincere, empathetic and punctual, responsive and understanding. Possessing these qualities, a young man will not deceive, will not let down the company and the employer. The second thing that Madi Agybaev emphasized was the need to have strong empathy.
- You can be an outstanding professional, - the speaker noted, - but if you don’t know how to communicate, are unable to empathize with people, and make them feel at ease with you, it's unlikely you will be hired.
Moreover, one should not forget that being a good person is not a profession. Therefore, it's always important to maintain a balance in spiritual and professional development. And for this, it is essential to READ, not only specialized but also literary fiction. Furthermore, it's imperative to study foreign languages.
And, lastly, the main focus of our guest's attention was the inexhaustible resource - the ENERGO ALUMNI BROTHERHOOD. Wherever you are, whoever you meet or interact with, whatever situations you find yourself in, remember - those who graduated from our university will always support you!
During the meeting, Madi Agybaev shared his personal career path, his achievements, and insights. He also gave valuable advice to third-year students, who, unlike graduating students, now have more time to choose their future workplace:
- You have the opportunity to identify at least five companies where you would like to work after graduating from the university, - the mentor shared. – You can go there and find out what skills are necessary to become their employee. And dedicate all the remaining time to developing these skills.
At the end of the meeting, the speaker offered the attendees a test task often given to candidates applying for a job at RIZA GLOBAL (incidentally, this company actively accepts our students for internships). The students easily coped with it, earning well-deserved praise. Madi Agybaev mentioned, unfortunately, not all candidates pass the test in reality.
At the end of the meeting, everyone present had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions. Notably, even after the official end of the meeting, the students continued to approach Madi Shingiskhanovich personally with their pressing questions, sharing doubts and fears regarding the correctness of their chosen future profession and career path. And none of them left without useful advice from Agybaev.
- The conversation was simple and heartfelt: an elder brother came to his younger siblings. He came with the desire and readiness to help his close ones, - Zarima Abdullina, the Head of the office of Alumni Relations of the Department of Youth Policy. - And we hope that such useful meetings will become our good tradition.
