The AUES delegation is participating in the 77th International Astronautical Congress

An AUES delegation is taking part in the 77th International Astronautical Congress, held this year in Antalya—the premier global platform where space agencies, universities, research centers, and major industry players meet.

This year, AUES is the only university from Kazakhstan represented at the Congress. This is of particular importance to us: AUES scientists implement research projects in space exploration, satellite, telecommunication, and digital technologies, while the university trains engineering personnel for high-tech industries.

The Congress clearly demonstrates that space today is no longer just about rockets and satellites. It encompasses communications, artificial intelligence, Earth remote sensing, new materials, security, big data, and a massive innovation market. Universities are becoming a vital part of this ecosystem.

It is especially indicative that in 2028, the International Astronautical Congress will be hosted by Uzbekistan. Our neighbors are consistently enhancing the international visibility of their space program and declaring new ambitions in this field.

For Kazakhstan, this is also a good reason to reflect on the next stage of the industry's development.

Perhaps the time has come for a professional discussion on how well the current space governance system aligns with new technological and geopolitical realities. This includes considering the revival of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan as an independent institution capable of consolidating state policy, science, education, business, and international cooperation around a unified, long-term space strategy.

This is not so much about the title or creating yet another government structure. The main goal is to restore to the space agenda the strategic level and dynamism required by its significance for the country's technological development and competitiveness.

Training personnel for the space industry must also be a top priority of this agenda, requiring robust state support.
