Rector
1997 - 2014
The fourth rector of the university and the first rector of the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company “Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications” from 1997 to 2014. A Candidate of Engineering Sciences, professor, and author of over 50 scientific publications, 5 patents and copyright certificates,
Throughout his career, he held various prominent positions, including Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the Almaty Power Engineering Institute, Head of the Science and Technology Sector of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Head of the Administration of the High Council for Science and Technology under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He successfully restored APEI’s independence, which had been part of KazNTU in 1996-1997. The Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications now bears his name, as does one of its buildings— “G. Daukeyev Academic Building,” constructed with his direct involvement.
