On June 4, 2025, Kanat Baigarin was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after G. Daukeyev. A graduate of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), he is an engineer and physicist, and holds a PhD in physics and mathematics (plasma physics and chemistry). He is the author of over 60 scientific publications. He oversees the university's scientific development and educational programs, as well as the dissemination of Nazarbayev University's scientific and innovative expertise.
