New Training Lab at AUPET

A joint training laboratory for simulators of the TPEP and EPS departments of the Institute of Energy and Green Technologies has opened in Room B-317. This modern training space is designed to closely mimic the real operating conditions of power facilities.

High-performance computers are used to install:

🔹 A Siemens SCC5-4000F computerized simulator and analysis system for a 410 MW combined-cycle gas turbine unit with a SPPA-type PTK process control system – this is the system planned for commissioning at AlES Thermal Power Plant No. 3;

🔹 A computerized simulator for the main electrical circuit of a 500/110/35/20/6 kV power plant with 300 MW generators, covering the entire range of operational tasks from 500 to 6 kV.

As part of the modernization of the departments' laboratory facilities, 10 licenses for these simulators were acquired.

They simulate the operation of primary and auxiliary equipment, control and protection algorithms, and enable the practice of normal and emergency modes, as well as the operation of systems in conditions as close as possible to real-life operation.

The simulators are used not only in the educational process but also as a training and retraining center for operating and maintenance personnel at power plants and substations. Training programs include assignments, instructions, automatic recording of actions, and performance assessment.
