At the Non-Commercial Joint Stock Company “Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev,” a lecture titled “Deepfakes and New Threats. Prevention of Extremism and Terrorism” was held for students as part of the national “Law and Order” program announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the Department for Student Affairs.
The following experts took part in the session:
– Dinara Utebayeva — religious studies expert, specialist of the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise, NAAR expert;
– Daniyar Azikenov — district police inspector of the Bostandyk district, Police Captain;
– Dulat Bildybayev — senior operative officer of the Department for Economic Investigations of Almaty.
The speakers provided analytical insights into modern cyber threats, deepfake creation technologies, and methods for their detection. They also addressed issues related to the prevention of extremism and terrorism, as well as protecting civil society from manipulative and destructive content and online behavior.
According to Aidar Soltanbekov, Director of the Department for Student Affairs:
“Developing digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and responsible behavior in the information space among youth is a key element of ensuring national security. Such meetings contribute to strengthening digital safety, enhancing students’ legal awareness, and shaping an active civic position.”
