Energo University and KEGOC Open Training Complex: New Practice for Future Power Engineers

During the Year of Working Professions in Kazakhstan, a joint training complex of the National Dispatch Center of the System Operator, established by KEGOC JSC and the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (AUPET), was opened.

The project aims to develop practical competencies among students and young professionals in the energy industry. The new center will allow AUPET students to study the theoretical foundations and practical mechanisms of dispatch control, as well as train on models that closely resemble operating conditions in the country's power grid.

The training space is equipped with modern technology, including a video wall, workstations for instructors and students, as well as specialized software—SCADA and a DTS dispatcher simulator. The center's digital environment features a current diagram of the Kazakhstan power grid, including operating power plants, substations, and transmission lines.

For AUPET students, this is not just a new laboratory, but a modern platform for developing professional skills. Here, they will gain real-world experience, learn how to make decisions in emergency situations, manage network parameters, and analyze energy processes.

AUPET Rector Gani Nygymetov, Managing Director for National Electric Grid Development at KEGOC JSC Almaz Sauhimov, Member of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dyusenbay Turganov, Chairman of the AUPET Board of Trustees Askar Iskakov, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Industry Trade Union of Power Engineers Orazbek Bekbas, and General Director of the Union of Power Engineers of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Dulkairov spoke at the opening ceremony.

In their speeches, they emphasized the project's importance for training engineering personnel, strengthening links between education and industry, and developing the digital competencies of future energy professionals.

Collaboration with KEGOC is part of the university's strategy to develop practice-oriented engineering education and integrate science, business, and industry. The university consistently builds partnerships with key energy sector companies, creating opportunities for students to grow professionally and secure future employment.

The creation of the training complex was a significant contribution by KEGOC to the university's development in the year of its 50th anniversary. This project is an investment in training a new generation of energy specialists who will be responsible for the reliability and sustainability of Kazakhstan's Unified Energy System in the coming years.
