On September 30, 2025, the university hosted a truly touching and inspiring event, the Gumarbek Daukeev Grant and Scholarship Award Ceremony.
The first rector of AUPET, Gumarbek Zhusupbekovich Daukeev, will forever remain in the hearts of the university staff, despite his passing 11 years ago. His contribution to establishing and strengthening AUPET as a leading technical university in the country, with a solid reputation and international recognition, is invaluable and deserves constant study. His dedication and competent leadership, wisdom, and concern for the students and staff of the university created a solid foundation for the further development of AUPET. In memory of this legacy, the university annually awards the G. Daukeev Grant and Scholarship to the best students on a competitive basis.
Gathered in the hall were Gumarbek Daukeev's like-minded people: classmates, associates, and colleagues, as well as students and faculty of our university. The event opened with a screening of a touching film about the principles, life, and achievements of Gumarbek Daukeev. The film recalled the strength of character, spirit, and dedication of Gumarbek Zhusupbekovich Daukeev.
Veterans spoke, sharing their memories and words of support that touched the hearts of everyone present. Among the speakers were Daukeev's classmate, Vyacheslav Vladimirovich Stoyak, who served as Vice-Rector for Science at AUPET for many years and is now the editor of the university's scientific journal, "AUPET Bulletin"; Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Power Engineer of Kazakhstan, Professor Ernest Akimovich Serikov, who served as the university's First Vice-Rector for many years; Dukenbaev Kazhymurat Dukenbaevich, former President of KEGOC JSC, Vice Minister of Energy, President of KO-REM JSC, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of EnergoAlem LLP (where our students complete their internships and graduates successfully work), and others.
They shared with the younger generation the fundamental qualities of Gumarbek Zhusupbekovich: perseverance, integrity, kindness, high moral standards, purity and social integrity, a categorical rejection of any violation of the law, the ability to consistently defend his point of view, and a proactive approach to life. These legends of the energy industry and our university emphasized that it was these principles and traditions, formed under his leadership, that helped us all, under his leadership, become a university that provides the highest quality education, and where students always come first. The words of gratitude from the Gumarbek Daukeev Grant and Scholarship laureates were memorable—sincere and inspiring, expressing the importance of such support, which motivates them on their path to new achievements. The students emphasized that receiving the Grant and Scholarship was a great honor and a profound responsibility. The laureates promised to do everything they could to justify the university's trust.
It's important to remember that the scholarship is more than just an award. It's a call to preserve and build on the traditions established by Gumarbek Daukeev—traditions of determination, honesty, and a commitment to development. It is thanks to these values that we are building a future worthy of the memory of the greats! May the scholarship become a symbol of new opportunities and self-confidence for each of you!
