Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) has become a participant in the future scientific and analytical Center for the "double carbon" strategy, which will operate on the basis of the North China Electric Power University in Beijing.
An agreement on this was reached during the 7th Energy Conference of the SCO Universities. Energo University has joined the Agreement on the "Double Carbon" Strategy of the SCO universities.
"We support and will actively participate in the work of a joint think tank designed to develop mechanisms for achieving carbon neutrality," said Gani Nygymetov, Rector of Energo University. – For us, as a leading energy university in Kazakhstan, the experience of China is interesting, which has set a national goal of "double carbon" - reaching a peak in carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
To achieve these goals, China is now actively developing renewable energy sources (solar, wind and hydropower), introducing energy-efficient technologies and reforming the energy sector.
To develop these areas in Kazakhstan through academic exchange, the development of joint educational and scientific programs, the leadership of Energo University also signed a memorandum of cooperation with the North China Electric Power University.
