At the Energo University site, experts discussed the training of specialists for the IT and communications industries

A regular meeting of the Industrial Council for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) was held at Energo University. The Council was established in June this year on the initiative of the rector of the university, Gani Nygymetov, as a dialogue platform between business, production and the university, which allows to quickly respond to the needs of the labor market in the training of qualified specialists.

Chairman of the Industrial Council Askar Marat, a member of the Board of the Community of Kazakhstani IT Managers, opening the event, noted the need for constant joint systematic work of the university and industry representatives to promptly adjust educational programs to train specialists who meet the needs of the market.

As Andrey Beklemishev, Vice President of IDC CIS region, noted, today the IT industry is experiencing an acute shortage of personnel and companies are not able to solve this problem alone. The situation is similar in telecom. According to Nikolay Ivonin, Managing Director for Technological processes of Kazakhtelecom JSC, the company is constantly looking for new high-quality personnel, partially preparing them itself within the framework of its corporate university, but tries to actively cooperate with specialized universities. And here a positive example is the cooperation between Energo University and Kazakhtelecom on the SAPA+ project, which began this fall.

Syrym Toleuliev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazteleport JSC, noted the readiness to cooperate with the university to develop educational programs for training specialists of a new profile, which are currently not prepared by any university in the country, but for which there is a serious request from telecom and IT companies.

During the meeting of the Industrial Council, its participants decided to hold quarterly meetings with a detailed analysis of the results of the joint work done. Agreements have also been reached on holding thematic hackathons, meetup sessions with industry experts, guest lectures to Energo University students from speakers representing the most progressive companies in the field of ICT.
