It is easy to see a noisy audience of students, but the conference hall where people from science sit and at the same time discuss something interesting is a rare success. And such a meeting took place yesterday. At a long meeting table in the conference hall of AUPET, there were about 20 teachers and researchers. There was a heated debate between them. The president of the university, Gita Revalde listened to all of them. By the end of the second hour of the meeting, all the participants went to wright down their posters. They molded small colored stickers on them. And finally, everyone dispersed, the hall was quiet and Gita Revalde was able to comment on the situation:
- The past seminar is our first kind of brainstorming of university teachers using modern teamwork methods to identify their opinions on what the university should do in order to achieve its strategic goals. Thus, we want to give the whole team the opportunity to speak out about the university’s plans for the future, so that each teacher from the departments can convey his point of view to the university leadership. Indeed, only in this case, our work will be truly a team.
We started this practice from the Institute of Management Systems and Information Technologies and all the gathered participants are representatives of the chairs of this particular department. People were divided into groups and gave their suggestions in four main areas of work, discussed, jointly generated new ideas, then voted for concrete proposals.
The results of the seminar, will be passed to the Working group on the development of the AUPET strategy, consisting of the leadership of the university.
In the future, we will conduct such seminars together with the Department of Analysis and Development Strategy and all our Institutes, possibly with the administration. This is important and helpful.
The main thing is to involve the whole team in determining ways to achieve this goal - to become a leading Research University in Central Asia in such areas as electric power, heat power, IT, and aerospace technologies.
This is our common task and we must go all together to it!
