As part of the state program “Ruhani Zhangyru”, the youth forum “Abay and current issues of legal education” was held at AUPET. It was dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great son of the Kazakh people. Our university and the city branch of the Republican Public Association “National Movement Against Corruption” Zhanaru “were the organizers of the forum.
Professor of the Department of Social Sciences Mukhamedzhan K.Sh., researcher at the Institute of Literature and Art A. Zhumataeva, chief specialist of the Almaty Public Development Department Anuarbekova G. B. made presentations to a large audience of students. Another speaker, the head of the Sanaly Urpag project office, K. Tokushev asked questions concerning the life of Abay Kunabaev to the gathered youth. Having discovered that they lacked knowledge of the facts of the poet’s biography, Kaiyrzhan Akhmetbekovich lamented that today the present younger generation has great opportunities for getting a good education and not all, unfortunately, use it. Whereas Abay finished only the ordinary madrassah and collected all the rest of his knowledge bit by bit from everywhere. And he made many comparisons to students. “We don’t need to go abroad for education, and we don’t need to adopt the traditions of other civilizations, when we can restore the traditions of our ancestors for centuries and learn everything in our country,” the speaker appealed to young people. His vivid performance undoubtedly sunk into the soul of many.
With a welcoming speech, another guest addressed the audience – Deputy Board of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan KV Mamsurov. “The moral and spiritual values of all peoples are the same and the great Abay understood it well. Respect and friendship between people of different cultures are built on this basis, ”he said.
Abay was multifaceted as a person. He developed a set of rules that contained articles relating to the fight against corruption among officials. And what is surprising, he proposed in 1885, some ideas on this sore subject relevant, in the opinion of experts, to this day. The other speakers: vice-rector for educational work of AUPET Makhmutov S.K. and director of the Almaty branch of Republican Public Association “Zhanaru” K. Uskenov asked students to heed Abay’s edification words in their speech.
