The Institute of Control Systems and Information Technologies (ICSIT) is the youngest and largest research and educational institute at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev, in which almost two thousand students receive educational services.
The Institute of Control Systems and Information Technology includes 5 departments:
- Department of Automation and Control;
- Department of IT Engineering;
- Department of Information Security Systems;
- Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling;
- Department of "Language Studies".
The Institute prepares for the following educational programs of undergraduate and graduate programs:
- Automation and control;
- Information Systems;
- Computing equipment and software;
- Information security systems;
- Computer science.
Training of PhD students is carried out under the educational program "Automation and Control".
The teaching staff of the institute consists of highly qualified specialists, where more than 150 teachers, including doctors of science, PhD doctors, candidates of science and experienced teachers who are professionals in their field, are involved in scientific and pedagogical activities.
More than 10 teachers holding the title "Best University Teacher" of the Republic of Kazakhstan and about 20 full members of International and National Academies work at the institute.
At the institute's departments, much attention is paid to the advanced training of teachers and the quality of classes with students. To improve the quality of training, the Microsoft IT Academy, the CISCO Regional Network Academy, the Kaspersky Lab Center, the Dr.Web Center, the Oracle, AXIS, SIEMENES Training Centers, the SCADA Systems Laboratory, and the International Scientific - Research Laboratory “Cybersecurity Technologies”, Laboratory “Automated Process Control Systems”, Laboratory “Data Acquisition and Processing Systems”, etc. were opened.

The following joint educational programs with the National Research Nuclear University “Moscow Engineering Physics Institute” (Moscow), Moscow Energy Institute (Moscow) were implemented:

- Management in technical systems.
The laboratories of the institute are equipped with all necessary equipment for the educational process and scientific activities. With the direct participation of the largest IT-industry, joint: Microsoft IT Academy, CISCO Academy, Kaspersky Lab Center, Dr.Web Center, Oracle, AXIS, SIEMENES Training Centers, SCADA Systems Laboratory, International Scientific Research Laboratory “Cybersecurity Technologies”, Laboratory “Automated Process Control Systems”, Laboratory “Data Acquisition and Processing Systems”, etc. were created.
All educational programs of the Institute are coordinated with leading companies, industry associations and are carefully discussed at meetings of graduating departments, the institute’s council with the involvement of stakeholders, practitioners and representatives of production sectors, foreign scientists.
