Automation and Control: Family Traditions - Study at AUES!

At the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev on specialty “Automation and Control”, the children of those, who graduated from university with the degree in this specialty in the 90s, are studying here yet. Also, younger brothers and sisters of recent graduates of the department "Automation and Control" are studying this specialty.

Four years ago, Anel Serikova came from Aktobe to study at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications. She chose the specialty "Automation and Control." And this choice was not accidental. Anel decided to completely repeat the path of her parents - to enter the university they graduated, and to the same specialty! Earlier this specialty was called «Automation of technological processes and production."

- Dad entered the university in 1990 and studied in the group “Automation of technological processes and production – 90”. Mom studied in the same specialty, only two years later, in the group “Automation of technological processes and production – 92”, says Anel Serikova. - Parents have always noted the strong teaching staff in our department and the knowledge that they were given at the university. After some thought, I decided to enter the AUPET, in the same specialty as my parents.

In June 2020, Anel Serikova graduated with honors from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev. Now she is a bachelor of engineering and technology with a degree in Automation and Control.

“I do not regret about my choice and I can say with confidence that all those words of the parents about the teachers and our department were fully confirmed,” says Anel. - I am grateful to all my teachers for four years of study at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications. They grew up, educated, gave knowledge and a ticket to life for many generations of students.

Anel Serikova graduated from the University, where her parents got their education and profession. Her younger brother is currently studying at AUPET in the same specialty! He is the third year student. Indeed, it is a family tradition to study at AUPET on specialty “Automation and Control”!

This family story is far from the only one. So Bek-Sultan Kalibekov moved to the fourth year in the specialty "Automation and Control". At one time, his older sister Aybike studied in this specialty, then got Master’s degree abroad. And, for example, Alexander Barmin is the third year student - he also chose the same specialty - “Automation and Control”, as his older brother Roman, who graduated from AUPET with Master’s degree in 2020.

And such stories have become a kind of visiting card of the department “Automation and Control”, which until 2017 was called “Engineering Cybernetics” and, of course, in general, the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev.
