The academic year in universities and colleges of Kazakhstan will begin in an online format, said the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askhat Aymagambetov.

“According to the system of technical and vocational education, the school year in colleges will begin remotely. The traditional format will be adopted on an individual schedule in the organization of industrial training and professional practice of the first and final courses. Also, the traditional format will be adopted in remote colleges with a small contingent and with the strengthening of the sanitary regime,” - Aimagambetov said at a government meeting on Tuesday.

At the same time, he noted that in universities, the academic year will begin remotely too.

“As for higher education – studying will be organized remotely mainly. The traditional format will be on an individual schedule for laboratory work, industrial training, professional practice,” - added Aimagambetov.

Earlier, he proposed “the following solution: to start the school year on September 1 in a remote format in grades 1-11 in all schools, with the exception of remote rural ungraded schools,” he noted that “in remote ungraded rural schools, studying will take place as usual” .
