“Automation without borders” is diploma projects of AUPET graduates
The fact that the specialty "Automation and Control" can applied everywhere: from space to underground is clearly shown by the graduation projects of the current graduates of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev.
In 2020, 122 AUPET graduates received bachelor's degrees in the educational program "Automation and Control". The educational process in this specialty is organized on the basis of the department with the same name - "Automation and Control", which is part of the Institute of Control Systems and Information Technologies.
When forming the theme of the diploma project on automation, first of all, the desire of the student himself in which area of human activity to apply the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities is taken into account. Indeed, in today's world there is not a single industry that can do without automation and control of technological, production and business processes. When determining the theme, the place of work where the graduate intends to work after graduation from the university is also taken into account. And the task of the supervisor is to determine the goals and content of the graduation project. They must fully comply with the competencies that graduates of the "Automation and Control" specialty have to possess.
For example, AUPET graduate of 2020 Alina Nurlanova decided to develop a graduation project related to space. As a result of this "immersion in space" the theme was born - "Development of a vibration suppression control system when a satellite moves in orbit." But Tamirlan Akhmedov's diploma work, one might say, carried away into the underground space. He passed his industrial and pre-diploma practice in a partner company of the Department of Automation and Control - IT-Partners. His thesis - "Development of an automation system for technological units of the Almaty underground" was carried out as part of a real project to improve the reliability of the metro.
Rustem Dospayev graduated from the correspondence department at the AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeev. He is a police officer. His graduation project on the topic “Modernization of the automated system of photo and video recording of traffic violations at the crossroads of the city of Almaty” is a real proposal to improve the traffic situation in the largest metropolis of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, automation can make our daily life much easier. Akbobek Abilkayirkyzy, who studied in the English group, applied modern achievements in the IT sphere, having completed her thesis project on the topic "Development of a monitoring system for the energy supply of a residential cottage using IoT technology." The purpose of this work was to create a fully functional model of an automated installation that ensures the efficient operation of a solar panel by automatically controlling its position to increase the efficiency of a photovoltaic station based on a microprocessor device.
Oleg Mashchenko found social application of IT technologies in our daily life, having realized his ideas in the project called "Development of an automated snow melting system for socially significant objects."
But Ivan Evglevsky was interested in the issues of creating a "smart home". The topic of his graduation project is "Development of voice control of residential engineering systems." Control algorithms for natural and artificial lighting, heating, cooling and air humidification in the living space were implemented in this project.
Another AUPET graduate of this year, who studied in the specialty "Automation and Control", Yerzhan Kabdygaliev from Kulsary, a city in the Atyrau region. The theme of his graduation project was prompted by ... the specific climate of this region. In his work "Development of an automatic soil irrigation system" Yerzhan proposed a variant of watering trees and shrubs, taking into account the weather conditions of Kulsary. And as an object of management, he took the personal plot of his parents.
It should be noted that a large number of representatives of the western regions of the country - Atyrau, Mangistau, Aktobe and West Kazakhstan regions annually enter the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications for the specialty "Automation and Control". Therefore, it is not surprising that many students studying in this specialty tend to choose oil and gas themes for their graduation projects. In this strategic direction of the country's development, the work carried out by the student of the English group Bekzhan Taskymbay - "Development and research of a system for determining production indicators based on information flows of the oil and gas industry" has become one of the most interesting this year.
However, in the west of our country, highly qualified specialists in the field of automation and control are required not only in the oil and gas industry. This is clearly confirmed by the diploma project Makpal Sairamkhan on the topic "Automation of the process of desalination of seawater by reverse osmosis" desalination plant "Caspiy", located in Aktau, became the Object for this development.
The diploma work, which was completed by Aldiyar Tagay - "Development of a web application of an automated control system for calculating the technical and economic indicators of an enterprise" has a completely different direction.
Thus, even according to the listed projects of AUPET graduates in 2020, it is already clear how wide are the possibilities and boundaries of application of such an IT specialty as "Automation and Control" The demand for this specialty becomes limitless, because automation and control are firmly strengthening their positions in every field of human activity.
