Restrictions on settling in dormitories and conducting laboratory work in October 2020.

Dear students of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev!

In connection with the coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing registration of latent forms of infection, in order to ensure the safety of students and staff, the AUPET executives made the following decision:

1. Teaching 1st year students in the 1st semester of the 2020/21 academic year for all educational programs will be conducted only in a distance format. Microsoft Teams platform will be used. Freshmen are not admitted to university campuses. Nonresident students do not come to Almaty, since all disciplines of the 1st semester of the 1st year are general education and do not require classes on equipment.

2. Teaching of students of 2-4 courses (as well as students of Master’s and PhD programs) in the 1st semester of the 2020/21 academic year for all educational programs (specialties) in October - December will continue in the online format for lectures and seminars and part of laboratory studies, not requiring the study of equipment. Laboratory classes on equipment in AUPET laboratories in October - December will be carried out in strict compliance with sanitary and epidemiological measures with no more than 4 students working at different stands in the laboratory on a rolling schedule controlled by the teacher. Students will defend the completed laboratory work online according to the schedule of laboratory classes and an additional online schedule of specially allocated hours of the Independent works with faculty, the schedule of which is made by the teacher himself.

3. The arrival of nonresident students of 2-4 courses (as well as students of Master’s and PhD programs) in the 1st semester of the 2020/21 academic year is inappropriate. Nonresidents can watch the laboratory work online. Nonresident students living in villages where there is no cellular communication (It is checked by coverage map) and the Internet can come to Almaty in early October. Accommodation of senior students in the hostel will be considered by the commission for the allocation of places, taking into account the benefits (orphans, disabled people, etc.) and the remoteness of the main place of residence.

4. In the case of a weakening of sanitary and preventive measures in the country and a successful fight against the pandemic, the website will additionally announce the possibility of arriving in Almaty at the end of January 2021, for the second semester from February 1.
