Online dialogue

On the 10^th December online meeting with the rector of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, Saule Sagintayeva on the winter session and academic honesty was held.

The Vice-rector for Academic Activities S.V. Konshin, the Vice-rector for Educational Work S.K. Makhmutov, the directors of the institutes, digital officer of the university took part in the online meeting.

At the beginning of the online meeting, the Rector of AUPET S.S. Sagintayeva addressed the students with a welcoming speech. She noted that a winter examination session is waiting for us all, which will be held in a remote format. The purpose of our online meeting is to understand how we will interact during the examination session. According to the rector, the university quickly restructured all work and the learning process to a new distance level, optimized the classroom fund; increased server capacity. The technical equipment is improving - additional computer classes are being opened; content, academic policy are being improved.

Since March 16, 2020, our University has successfully switched to distance learning. The prepared IT infrastructure made it possible to transfer quickly the educational process to distance learning according to the current schedule of classes and made it possible to cover all students with distance learning. For this, information and educational platforms are used - Modle, "ZOOM" and a number of others, the use of which makes it possible to form courses and a base of educational and methodological complexes of disciplines, conduct individual or group lectures, give assignments, track their implementation by students, assess the degree of mastering the course and much more.

And in these new conditions, according to Rector S. Sagintayeva, our common goal is to preserve and improve the quality of education at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. According to Vice-Rector for Academic Activities S. Konshin, on the eve of the examination session, the new format of teaching requires self-discipline and great responsibility from students. The exams will be organized and conducted according to the automated proctoring system “ProctorEdu”, where sessions are recorded and analyzed for violations, after which reports are generated. This system has already been tested.

Summer session exams were held in the form of an online test in the "Proctoring" system (online control of the test taker). In this system, compliance with the rules of academic integrity was monitored. The exam could be taken through a computer, laptop, smartphone. Information (instructions) for online testing is provided on the website. The Microsoft Teams platform, an enterprise platform that combines chat, appointments, notes, and attachments, has been chosen for the new academic year. During the online meeting, students were familiarized once again with the changes and additions to the Academic Policy and the Code of Academic Honesty at AUPET. During the meeting, the students showed great interest and involvement.

The most varied and exciting questions for the students regarding the upcoming examination session were asked to the distance learning guide, the second midterm control, the Proctoring system and the passage of verification, as well as the question of vacant educational grants. The students asked about the exam schedule and timing. After the live broadcast, all questions received from students during an online meeting with the university administration will be reviewed and analyzed again. The university administration will give full answers to them, and they will be posted on the university website aues.kz and in social networks.
