Professor Waldemar Wojcik at AUPET: “Our cooperation can reach a new level!”

In 2020, the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev received the right to open a doctorate in the educational program "Automation and Control". This became an excellent opportunity for expanding cooperation with such an authoritative scientist from Poland as Waldemar Wojcik.

Doctor of Technical Sciences Waldemar Wojcik is a professor at the University of Technology from the Polish city of Lublin. Memorandums of cooperation were signed between this university and Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. Waldemar Wojcik himself has also been cooperating with our university for several years.

At present, there is no other scientist like  Wojcik who has trained such an impressive number of young scientists in Kazakhstan - 18 (!). All of them successfully defended their theses for the degree of PhD. In total, this Polish professor has trained 36 PhDs and 6 doctors of technical sciences from various countries. His scientific activity and authority can also be judged by his Hirsch index - 22.

Waldemar Wojcik together with Bakhyt Mukhanov, professor of the Department “Automation and Control” of AUPET, was the head of the representative of the new scientific wave of our university, associate professor Erbol Orakbaev, who became a PhD doctor a few years ago. However, this was all within the framework of doctoral studies at another Kazakhstani university. Now, the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications has acquired the right to train doctoral students in “Automation and Control”.

Waldemar Wojcik's current visit to AUPET was related to the specialty "Automation and Control". First, on January 11, a meeting of the Polish scientist with doctoral students of the Department “Automation and Control” took place. Then, together with the head of the department, associate professor Igor Fedorenko and the head of the research laboratory “Automated process control system”, professor Sarsenbek Zhusupbekov and professor of the department Irbulat Utepbergenov, various aspects of mutually beneficial cooperation, both in educational and scientific activities, were discussed.

Another meeting between Valdemars Wojcik took place with Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, PhD Almaz Saukhimov. It was not only about the joint training of doctoral students, the organization of internships and cooperation in scientific activities. Also, a mutual desire was expressed and ways of cooperation on the implementation and implementation of scientific developments and projects in various industries in Kazakhstan were discussed.
