The energy sector of Kazakhstan suffered an irreparable loss
The first rector of the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Engineering Academy and the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bolotov Albert Vasilyevich passed away. He was 86 years old.
Bolotov Albert Vasilievich made a huge contribution to the development of science and education. Starting his career as a simple electrical engineer at a hydroelectric power plant, he became a prominent scientist and leader who perfectly combined educational, scientific and industrial activities.
Under his leadership, the foundation for the development of the energy sector in Kazakhstan was laid. He opened the only specialized Energy Institute in Kazakhstan in Almaty, which was called the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering. The training of highly qualified personnel has been a strategic challenge for the industry. For a long time, under the leadership of Albert Vasilyevich Bolotov, the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering has trained thousands of graduates for the energy sector of Kazakhstan. They are working for the benefit of the development of the industry of independent Kazakhstan at the present time.
Along with this, Bolotov Albert Vasilyevich was a prominent scientist, known not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. He is the author and inventor of the Bolotov’s Rotary Wind Turbine, the first creator of the development of Renewable Energy Sources in Kazakhstan, a member of the Supreme Council under the Presidium of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, one of the co-founders of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The technological processes of arc and resistive, radiation heating and pulsed electrohydraulic action, plasma technological processes for obtaining nano-dispersed materials, cutting metals, and the induction method for producing sponge titanium, developed by famous scientists, are widely used in practice. Since 1968, A.V. Bolotov periodically worked abroad - carried out scientific research. He lectured in England, Canada, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Poland. He participated in the work of international organizations in India and Hungary, the USA, Pakistan. He was the official representative of Kazakhstan at the international forum "Energy and Sustainable Development" in Brussels. He presented scientific achievements at the Days of the Republic of Kazakhstan in San Diego. He created complex energy systems Bolotov’s Wind Rotary Turbine "Wind-Sun". He carried out their construction in large numbers and commissioning. A.V. Bolotov is the author of more than 500 scientific works, including 2 monographs, more than 100 copyright certificates of the USSR, patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Patent Office. Developed under the leadership of A.V. Bolotov, the exhibit "Energy of the Great Steppe" KazZhelKuat – Bolotov’s Wind Rotary Turbine "Wind and Sun - Energy for All" was exhibited at the International Exhibition EXPO-2017 "Energy of the Future" in Nur-Sultan and was awarded the gratitude of the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan.
