We invite you to take part in the IV Summit of Young Leaders of the Asia - European Fund

The V Asia - European Fund Young Leaders Summit (# ASEFYLS4) is a fully funded 10-month youth leadership development program and is linked to the 13th ASEM Summit (ASEM13), which will be held in June 2021 in Cambodia.

The event allows young professionals and students from Asia and Europe to meet with political leaders, top managers, prominent thinkers and figures.

The program is a platform for young people, which allows considering the problem from all sides in terms of 3 areas: “self-leadership” (initiative), team leadership and community leadership. It supported by ASEM (Asia-Europe Meetings) Summit.

5 components of the program:

1. Knowledge formation: knowledge and skills for action, as well as inspiring young people to achieve

2. Reciprocity: learning as equals and sharing the time, talents and resources provided for personal growth in a team environment

3. Diversity of connections: a space for partnerships between youth, community leaders, business leaders, academics and political leaders among participants from 51 countries

4. Dialogue with leaders: personal dialogues and exchange of views with heads of state, political leaders on the principles of leadership and ethical decision-making

5. Collaborations: Commitment to Collaborate on Leadership in Action for Sustainable Development in Local Communities

The program combines 4 thematic goals:

1. Health and Wellness: Ensuring healthy lifestyles and promoting well-being at all ages

2. Quality education: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all

3. Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promoting sustainable, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full employment and decent work for all

4. Climate-related activities: take urgent action to combat climate change and impacts

3 stages of the program:

1. Knowledge formation: February 22, 2021 - May 28, 2021 - Online (thematic courses with a certificate of participation on Asian-European and international relations in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals; leadership training with a certificate of participation; youth dialogues with heads of state and government in the context of sustainable development goals; focus group discussions and collaboration on leadership, sustainable development)

2. Youth Summit in the framework of the 13th ASEM Summit: May 29, 2021 - June 2, 2021, Cambodia (or online - will depend on local and international health and safety recommendations, as well as travel recommendations): expert sessions, discussion forums and workshops, local case studies in Cambodia, one-on-one meetings with political leaders.

3. Leadership in action: June - November 2021, online and locally in local ASEM communities (participants demonstrate the role of youth in ensuring sustainable development, collaboration in significant public projects, participants will be assigned to specific working groups and will contribute to the implementation Leadership in Action project) (participation is possible online and in the field)

Young leaders from different professional fields and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.

Recruitment - 150 youth representatives.  Minimum 1 representative has to be from each of the 51 ASEM partner countries.

The application period is until February 3, 2021. A letter confirming the application will be sent to the mail. Selection results - mid-February (there will be a letter with the result).

Who: a citizen of one of 51 partner countries (Russia), student / entrepreneur / teacher / scientist / young professional aged 18 to 30, high level of English (written and spoken)

Applicants over the age of 30 who believe they meet other selection criteria and have a suitable profile can apply and it will be considered. But priority is given to those who meet all the conditions.

How the application is assessed: current or past experience of participating in events related to the ASEF Youth Summit (preferably, but always looking for new people with fresh and innovative ideas, regardless of experience and education); the possible contribution of knowledge and skills to projects; the originality of the motivation letter; work experience and / or expressed interest in Asian-European relations.

2 certificates are issued: the certificate of ASEF and the Ministry of International Relations and International Cooperation of Cambodia, as well as the certificate of the European College in Natolin and the Center for Creative Leadership.

They will also receive certificates of completion of courses, trainings.

If the ASEFYLS4 summit takes place physically (on the ground), then it will be of paramount importance to the ASEF. In this case its partners must ensure the health and safety of the participants. Thus, the total number of participants on site will be determined and possibly limited based on the local health and safety policy and ASEF requirements.

ASEF and its partners will provide a travel subsidy for a certain number of participants traveling from overseas to Cambodia and back. The amount of the travel subsidy will be announced directly to the selected participants and will be paid only if the participant physically attends the Summit.

The organizers will also provide:

• shared accommodation for selected participants traveling from abroad

• meals adjusted for participants requiring special dietary meals, as far as possible

• financial support to cover travel insurance and visa fees

• visa letter for those who need it

No participation or registration fees are required.
