The Year of Science and Technology has been opened at the Kazan State Energy University with an International Symposium

What promises the heirs of the State Commission for the Electrification of Russia the changing world, where they move away from the use of coal and atomic, was discussed at a representative forum at the Kazan State Energy University.

The international symposium "Sustainable Energy and Power Engineering - 2021: SUSE 2021" (SUSTAINABLE ENERGY 2021) with the participation of more than 800 people from the CIS countries and Europe is taking place these days at the Kazan State Energy University. The first meeting of the Consortium for Technical Education of Russia and Kazakhstan was also held within the framework of the conference. This is a new public organization that will unite the technical universities of the two countries. How has a pandemic, having closed physical boundaries, paradoxically brought scientists around the world closer together?

IN KAZAN, THE INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER TECHNICAL EDUCATION WAS PRESENTED

The Leading experts in the field of energy are speaking these days at the Kazan State Energy University. Moreover, many specialists are located in their own apartment or office somewhere in Almaty, Moscow or Rome. The international symposium "Sustainable Energy and Power Engineering - 2021: SUSE-2021 *" is held in a mixed, part-time and correspondence format. Thanks to the video conferencing mode, scientists from many countries were able to attend such a large event, air traffic with which has been suspended due to the pandemic. For speeches 288 applications were submitted, the total number of participants was more than 800 people from 14 regions of Russia, as well as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Bulgaria, etc. About 40 representatives of universities were able to come to Kazan to take part in the symposium in person.

“I am glad to welcome you to the Kazan State Power Engineering University. This is a significant event for us, a great honor and a sign of confidence on the part of the organizers, - noted the rector of Kazan State Energy University Edward Abdullazyanov, opening the event. - It is especially pleasant that this large-scale conference is being held at our university in the Year of Science and Technology. The opportunity to host such an event is also a chance to visually demonstrate the scientific potential of our university, to acquaint you with our scientists. I invite everyone who takes part in the conference in person to visit the research laboratories of Kazan State Power Engineering University, take the opportunity to exchange research results and, of course, see Kazan. "

Abdullazyanov recalled that the first meeting of the working group of the Consortium of Technical Education of Russia and Kazakhstan will be held within the framework of the event, the coordinator of which will be the Kazan State Energy University. The new association is intended to become an effective platform in the field of professional higher technical education within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation. The rector wished all the conference participants fruitful work, open dialogue, innovative ideas, interesting business contacts and enjoy the communication.

THE ARTICLES WILL BE INDEXED IN THE INTERNATIONAL DATABASES "SCOPUS" - THIS WILL INCREASE THE LEVEL OF KAZAN SESSIONAL NERGETIC NIVERSITY

If we talk about the fundamental and applied science of the energy sector, then the place of its concentration in the Volga Federal District is the Kazan State Energy University. All these areas are included in the subject of cooperation of the created Consortium.

The agreement on joining the Consortium was signed on December 30, 2020 by 18 rectors - 12 from Russia and 6 from Kazakhstan. Irina Akhmetova, the vice-rector for scientific work of Kazan State Energy University, said that at the meeting in Kazan the directions of development, the “road map” of the Consortium will be outlined, an acquaintance will take place in groups of narrow specialists who will be engaged in the development of one topic. “All this will result in joint research works, dissertations, articles and collective monographs,” Akhmetova added. “I hope we will soon see promising Russian-Kazakh projects in the field of energy.”

According to the vice-rector for scientific work of Kazan State Energy University, with the development of the pandemic, paradoxically, the boundaries between scientists seem to have disappeared - "we began to communicate more often and more." The idea to hold an International Symposium in Kazan arose from the suggestion of the Yeltsin Ural Federal University. Professor of the Ural Power Engineering Institute Yuri Brodov emphasized that the participation of Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gurgen Olkhovsky, Head of the Scientific Production Association Central Boiler and Turbine Institute Vladimir Mikhailov, author of dozens of patents Oleg Milman, a specialist in the field of steam and gas turbines Vladimir Gribin.

“Speaking without exaggeration, they are living 'classics', pillars of modern Russian energy, specialists in demand, whose schedule usually excludes the likelihood of gathering them at one time on one site, but the communication format we have chosen allowed us to do this,” Akhmetova explained. - It's nice to see a lot of young people at the Symposium. For undergraduate and postgraduate students, the opportunity to hear reports from international experts, submit their own research to their judgment, and conduct lively discussions with them is worth a lot. We also have representatives of energy companies, creating a symbiosis of scientific, practical and educational components. I will add that as a result of the event, it is planned to publish a number of articles that will be indexed in the international citation tracking databases "Scopus".

This will raise the level of our university and all 15 universities that have joined the event. "

ONLINE FORMAT FOR UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT IS COMPETITIVE

On the first day of the Symposium, plenary sessions were held. They continued with work in sections in 9 directions. Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of NRU MPEI, outlined the challenges facing the energy sector of the economy. First of all, this is the development of technologies aimed at increasing reliability, safety, efficiency and compliance with environmental indicators, the development of hydrogen energy, the transformation of the energy system of the CIS countries created in the USSR. The renowned scientist drew attention to the importance of the climate agenda, the related theme of "carbon tax" and the changing paradigm. For example, in Germany, a decision was made to completely abandon coal generation and nuclear power plants in order to switch to the use of "green" energy from renewable resources.

And his colleague, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Birlesbek Aliyarov, presented an interesting report with proposals for transforming the transportation system in megacities to reduce emissions and costs. Moving away from traditional trolleybuses and buses in favor of a hybrid public transport network, using trailers to regulate occupancy during peak hours, and introducing daily passes to encourage inter-city transfers.

“For the university, the opportunity to host such an event is not only an honor, but also a chance to clearly demonstrate the potential of laboratories, to better acquaint scientists and, possibly, to attract new ones to cooperation, to build a constructive dialogue with the scientific team of the Kazan State Energy University and all participants of the Symposium,” they concluded at the university. - The online participation format is competitive today. We plan to develop the practice of organizing work on joint educational programs and research projects in a distance format using the university platform of online education and webinar systems. "
