HOW TO MANAGE A DETERMINED CHAOS - webinar with the participation of AUPET and ENU scientists

Managing of deterministic chaotic modes - that was the topic of the first in a series of webinars. The scientific group under the leadership of Irbulat Utepbergenov - professor of the Department “Automation and Control” of the Almaty University of Power   Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev was their organizer.

The webinar was held on the Microsoft Teams Internet platform. It turned out to be intercollegiate. The participants are representatives of such authoritative Kazakhstani universities as the Eurasian National University named after Lev Gumilyov and Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev.

It was a meeting of the faculty of two departments teaching, undergraduates and students of Master’s and PhD programs in the specialty "Automation and Control" - "System Analysis and Control" (ENU) and "Automation and Control" (AUPET). And this is one of the goals of the webinars, organized by Professor of the Department “Automation and Control” of AUPET, Doctor of Technical Sciences Irbulat Utepbergenov - to study  interesting scientific trends and trends, to give scientists from various universities of the country and from abroad to ask questions, express their opinion and take on board the development of colleagues.

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department “System Analysis and Control” of ENU Mamyrbek Beisenbi (pictured) presented his report. The topic of his speech is “Research and control of unstable and deterministic chaotic regimes of dynamical systems”. New control possibilities in technical systems appeared, according to the scientist, with the discovery at the end of the 20th century and the explanation of such a concept as deterministic chaos - an irregular or chaotic movement. Many processes occurring in modern nonlinear dynamical systems are now subject to this phenomenon.

A new concept of control of deterministic chaotic and unstable regimes is proposed in the works of Beisenby. This concept is based on the construction of control systems in the class of structurally stable mappings from the theory of catastrophes.

The scientist concludes that this approach allows an unlimited increase in the robust stability potential of control systems. It is a guaranteed protection against the regime of deterministic chaos with the formation of "strange attractors" and instabilities. The equation of state of a nonlinear system by choosing a control law is represented in the form of structurally stable mappings. They have several stable stationary states. With the loss of stability of one stationary state, another stable state appears, depending on the change in the unpredictable parameters of the system. As a research method aimed at increasing the robust stability potential, a new gradient-velocity method of the Lyapunov vector function is proposed.

Controlling deterministic chaos is a very interesting, from a scientific point of view, and relevant direction in the development of the modern theory of automatic control. The webinar brought together more than 50 participants and, without a doubt, fulfilled its task - to provide food for thought, reflection and new scientific searches.

This was the start of a series of webinars organized by the scientific group of Professor of the Department “Automation and Control” of AUPET Irbulat Utepbergenov. There is a discussion of other interesting scientific topics in the dialogue of scientists from different countries ahead. Do not miss!
