Competition "The best reader of M. Auezov’ epic novel  "Abai's Way" has reached its climax

On March 10, 2021, at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev the final round of the International Student Competition "The best reader of M. Auezov's epic novel "Abai's Way" was held online.

The event was opened with a welcoming speech of the vice-rector for educational work Makhmutov Serik Kapanovich. He noted the importance of the spiritual, aesthetic and moral education of students through familiarizing with fiction, in particular, reading the epic novel by the Kazakh classic M. Auezov "The Way of Abai". Professor of the Department of Social Disciplines Mukhamedzhan Kuanysh Shakirtovich made a congratulatory speech and wished success to the participants of the competition, claiming the title of "The best reader".

Students who passed the first qualifying round took part in the second round. Among them are students of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, Atyrau State University named after Kh.Dosmukhamedov, Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering (Aktau), Karaganda Technical University, State Pedagogical Institute named after Navoi (Navoi, Republic of Uzbekistan) and other higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and foreign universities.

In the final round, the participants demonstrated their reading erudition and intellectual level. At the first stage, "Who is faster?" the participants of the competition promptly answered test questions on the content of the four volumes of "Abai's Way". At the second stage, "Knowledge is a Treasure", students emotionally and vividly gave detailed answers to open questions of various levels of complexity concerning the ideological, philosophical and artistic and aesthetic content of the epic novel. At the third stage, "Who is faster among the fast", the participants had to reflect on more complex audio and video questions related to the concept of a Kazakh writer. The interest of the student generation to the unique personality of the protagonist of the epic novel Abai Kunanbayev, to the history and culture of the Kazakh people, as well as their ability to think creatively and give correct answers, made faculty happy.

Students who read excerpts from "Abai's Way" in Russian, English and German diversified the program of the literary evening. During the event the kui were performed in the intervals between the stages.

The competition committee headed by Associate Professor Zhekeyeva Kenzhe Omarovna summed up the results of the competition. I place was taken by a student of the Karaganda Polytechnic University Aydarbekova Kәken. The second place was taken by a student of the Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering Armanuly Miras. III place was shared by a student of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai Rakhat Zhansai and a student from AUPET named after A. Gumarbek Daukeyev Toktar Bekaidar.

The winners of the competition were awarded with diplomas, valuable presents in the form of gift cards from the "Book City" store. Students of the Navoi Pedagogical Institute Utegalieva Inabat and Nartaeva Perizat won the category "Audience Sympathy" and were awarded valuable prizes. The most active participants of the competition were rewarded with souvenirs with the AUPET logo and certificates.

Head of the Department for Language Studies, Associate Professor Tuleup Meirimkul Mukhamediyarovna delivered the closing speech. She said that the younger generation should consider it their duty to read the epic novel "Abai's Way" and warmly thanked all the participants and guests of the literary competition. The purpose of this event was not only to strive to identify the erudites and encourage the "best readers", but also to convince young people of the relevance and eternity of the artistic creations of writers, in this case the epic novel "Abai's Way".
