On March 25, a round table on the topic "Transition to the Latin alphabet - the path to world civilization" within the framework of the "Spiritual Revival" program was held at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. Its goal was to promote the new Latin alphabet, discuss the problems of switching to the Latin alphabet. The previously proposed three alphabets were very unfortunate. Dana Pashan, Leading Researcher of the Department “History of Languages” at the Institute of Linguistics named after Akhmet Baitursynov, Candidate of Philology, was the first to speak. The topic was “Improved new alphabet of the Kazakh language based on the Latin alphabet”. The scientist focused on the symbols of the modern national alphabet and tried to dispel the suspicions of many people.

Then the head of the department “Linguistic Culture” of the Institute of Linguistics named after Akhmet Baitursynov, candidate of philological sciences Nazira Serikovna Amirzhanova spoke about the requirements for the national alphabet based on the Latin alphabet. During the analysis, Nazira Serikovna listed the disadvantages of the proposed alphabet in 2017 and 2018, as well as the advantages of the last project.

Zaysanbayev Toleubek Kizatovich, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Linguistics of the Kazakh National Medical University named after Sanzhar Asfendiyarov, presented the report “Issues to be considered when developing spelling rules based on the Latin alphabet”.

Madiyar Kazybekovich Arstanbaev, a public relations specialist at the Institute of Linguistics named after Akhmet Baitursynov, commented on materials about the Latin alphabet in the media and social networks. According to him, while the scientific community supports the new alphabet, most ordinary people are more positive about our Latin alphabet than about aggressive resistance.

Aydar Muratbekovich Suleimenov, freshman of AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, spoke on behalf of the younger generation. The topic was "The New Alphabet - a Vivid Manifestation of Spiritual Renewal." Head of the Department of Linguistics, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Kazakh National Medical University named after Asfendiyarov Annel Tleumagambetovna Baktybaeva; the Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Space Engineering, Doctor PhD Gani Balbaev; the Head of the Department, PhD PhD Musapirova Gulzada Dauletbekovna and others participated in the meeting.

During the round table, the participants also asked questions and had a fruitful discussion.
