Bakytzhan Sagintayev: Only mass vaccination will help in the fight against the pandemic

In April, the projected increase in the incidence continues, the dynamics of the development of the CVI epidemic corresponds to the pessimistic forecast for three weeks.

Akim of the megalopolis Bakytzhan Sagintayev, during the live broadcast of the Akimat Live program on the TC "Almaty", urged citizens, especially the older generation, to be vaccinated against COVID-19, Vecher.kz reports.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev recalled that in terms of morbidity, Almaty remains in the "red" zone. During the day on April 20, 667 cases of coronavirus infection were registered, of which 574 were symptomatic and 93 were without symptoms. In infectious diseases hospitals, the capacity of which today is 6,060 beds, there are 3,754 patients, including 96 children. At the same time, 920 people are in serious condition, 2834 - in moderate severity. In the intensive care and intensive care units - 241 people, on the overhead line - 23, on the non-invasive mechanical ventilation - 94, on the High flow devices - 85 patients.

6021 patients are on outpatient treatment, including those in mild and moderate severity, with symptoms - 5301, without symptoms - 720.

“The incidence rate over the past 7 days has increased from 240.8 to 243.9 with an increase in the reproductive number R - from 1.023 to 1.031. In April, the projected increase in the incidence continues, the dynamics of the development of the CVI epidemic corresponds to the pessimistic forecast for 3 weeks. From April 1 to April 20, 13 002 cases of CVI were registered, ”the message says.

The morbidity among children under 1 year of age continues to increase by 0.5% - from 1.3 to 1.8%, among children under 14 years of age - by 1% - from 9.1 to 10.1%, among adolescents by 0.3% - from 3.0 to 3.3% and among citizens over 60 years old by 0.6% - from 23.7% to 24.3%.

Akim of the city Bakytzhan Sagintayev stressed that thanks to the measures taken to modernize and strengthen the health care system, medical institutions cope with the increasing load.

“However, according to experts, the peak of the pandemic has not yet passed. In this regard, the townspeople need to show great caution, observe the measures of sanitary and epidemiological safety. In this case, the only way to protect yourself from CVI is voluntary vaccination. For this, all conditions have been created in Almaty, lots of vaccines are supplied to the city on an ongoing basis, vaccination points have been opened in all districts,” the message says.

Vaccinations of medical workers, law enforcement officers and teachers began in February. Mass vaccination of the population started in Almaty on April 2. In total, as of April 21, 149,699 citizens were vaccinated, including residents of the Almaty region who work in the city. On April 23, 35 thousand doses of the vaccine are expected to be delivered, on April 25 more than 100 thousand doses.

“In total, for the mass immunization of Almaty residents, it is planned to use 250 vaccination points in medical organizations - state polyclinics and private medical centers, schools, cultural and sports facilities, in markets and in the city's shopping and entertainment center. To date, there are 203 vaccination centers in the city, of which 69 are open in the shopping and entertainment center, in the markets, in the museum named after Kasteev, as well as in cult organizations. 249 vaccination teams were involved in the composition of 1827 medical workers, "- follows from the message.

At the same time, mobile teams travel to vaccinate collectives of enterprises of all forms of ownership. 72 large industrial and manufacturing enterprises are concentrated in Almaty. Employees of more than 30 companies have already been vaccinated, including about 1,000 residents of the Almaty region and other regions.

In this regard, Bakytzhan Sagintayev called on the heads of enterprises to organize the vaccination of their collectives. This is especially true for companies in the service sector and trade.
