Non-profit JSC \"Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications\" named after Gumarbek Daukeyev is a co-organizer of the First Climate Dialogue \"Kazakhstan-Ukraine\". It will be held from 25 to 26 May 2021 in a face-to-face and distance format

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ukraine and the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, are holding the first in the EECCA region Climate Dialogue in the “Kazakhstan-Ukraine” format. The dialogue was supported by the representations of the World Bank, the Eurasian Union; United Nations Development Program; Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in Kazakhstan and Ukraine; Scientific and Educational Center "Green Academy"; AUPET; Climate Action Network of Eastern Europe; Caucasus, Central Asia; Center for Support of Civil Initiatives and the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It will bring together the leading expert institutes and Research and Production Associations of the region.

This event marks a qualitatively new stage in the climate diplomacy of the region of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. It will demonstrate the intention of the two producing countries in the region to consolidate cooperation in achieving carbon neutrality. The importance of the event is dictated by the need to establish sustainable communications between the main stakeholders of the climate process: Governments, business, scientists, Scientific and Production Associations in preparation for the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP-26), in Glasgow in November 2021.

The main topics of the dialogue will be the directions of decarbonization and its economic mechanisms, including: carbon tax, emissions trading, green finance and innovation, low-carbon urban development and others. The event is planned to be held in a mixed format (offline / online). The face-to-face format will take place in Kiev and Nur-Sultan, to which the EECCA region participants will join online.

Based on the results of the Forum, a resolution and recommendations for the Ministerial Climate Conference in Bonn (June 2021) will be developed. Memorandums to promote multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ukraine in the field of low carbon policy will be signed.
