Programmers of AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeyev have developed their own platform for training and proctoring system

On May 17, at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, the examination session for the 2020 - 2021 academic year in the online format began. Students take exams using distance learning technologies based on the new AUPET portal http://portal.aues.kz/ . It was developed by the programmers of the Department “Information Technologies”.

This academic year, the university's own online platform, Portal AUES, has been integrated into teaching. This system has many advantages. This makes it functional and easy to use not only for students, but also for faculty.

Portal AUES has a user-friendly, intuitive interface. Already in the first week of the exam session, more than 10,000 exam passing sessions were carried out by university students. More than 300 students took part online in the test. The proctoring system, developed by programmers from the Department “Information Technologies”, records video from the camera, records the screen and sounds from the microphone. During video recording, student faces are recognized and identified in real time using neural networks. During testing, violations are recorded and logged. There are loud noises, transitions to other tabs or programs, turns of the test taker in different directions, finding strangers or the absence of a student.

The advantage of the system is that the proctoring system determines the percentage of violations during testing, based on the recorded deviations. The ability to view students' exam progress in real time has been developed. A record, saved to the cloud, can be viewed from the archive.

The developers plan to improve the integration with LMS, to add advanced violation control functions, to strengthen the control of the tested, and to increase the number of logs.
