Children with rare genetic diseases completed the Young Engineer Course

A charity master class for children with special needs was held at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev in cooperation with the training center for children and adolescents “Engineeringium” of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

“We want to create a new generation of young engineers. Our main task is to develop interest in technology and research through socialization through a master class, introducing children with special needs to science,” said Kuanysh Alipbaev, Associate Professor of the Department “Space Engineering” at AUPET.

At the master class, the wards of the "Omirge Sen" foundation passed: "3D-modeling" and "Robotics LEGO WeDo", where they were able to reveal their engineering potential and creativity. In a 3D modeling class, participants designed a yurt and 3D printed their first model. Also, the wards of the foundation received basic theoretical knowledge of design in CAD, CAE, CAM systems and got acquainted with the process of printing a 3D model.

On robotics, the young researchers assembled their first robot, the Milo all-terrain vehicle, where they used sensors and an electric motor. It should be noted that this course is favorable for the development of fine motor skills of the hands in children, which is closely related to mental development. Children improve motor skills; in the process they develop muscle sense, spatial orientation and coordination.

“We came up with the idea to hold charity events a long time ago. On International Children's Day, we are pleased to hold our master classes, showing children with orphan diseases the prospects for development in the field of engineering. This is a large systemic project where it is necessary to create all conditions so that children have the opportunity to freely realize their creative potential. This is very important, because children are our future. We plan to move towards affordable and high-quality education for everyone, so we will conduct such campaigns on a regular basis, ”said Arman Komekbaev, Director of Engineering at MSTU. N.E.Bauman.

A young engineer course for children with special needs in robotics, circuitry, three-dimensional modeling and engineering business management, AUPET University and the training center “Engineeringium” will be regularly held free of charge.
