Student scholarships will be increased in 2021

Student scholarships of Bachelor’s programs will be increased in 2021. Student scholarships of Bachelor’s and PhD programs will be increased by 15%. Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov announced this during a briefing at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“In 2021, the size of the state scholarship for students of Bachelor’s programs will be more than 31 thousand tenge, students of Master's programs will be 76 thousand tenge and students of PhD programs will be 172 thousand tenge. On behalf of the President, by 2025, a gradual increase in scholarships for students of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs is provided. If we talk about students, from September 1, 2020, the scholarship for future teachers has been increased to 42,000 tenge,” the Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov said.

Askhat Aimagambetov added that this year a new system for paying scholarships to students of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs has been developed. The scholarships will now go directly to the card accounts of the recipients. This, as the minister noted, will eliminate corruption risks and ensure transparency in the distribution of funds. Previously, scholarships were transferred to universities, which then accrued them independently. The pilot project has already started.
