75 points is the passing threshold for admission to doctoral studies for a grant

For admission on a paid basis, the threshold score is 50 points. The director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Adlet Toybaev, told about this on the official page of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Instagram.

He specified that this year the acceptance of applications for doctoral studies will begin on July 3 and will last until August 3. Entrance exams for admission will be held from 4 to 20 August. For admission to doctoral studies, you can choose only one university and one group of educational programs.

“Applications for admission to doctoral studies are accepted through the admissions offices of universities. In the future, applications will be registered in the information system of the National Testing Center. Applicants will take entrance exams at regional testing centers. Applicants to universities subordinated to the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Health take entrance exams on the basis of universities ”, - Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adlet Toybaev reported.

The schedule of entrance exams is formed by the National Testing Centers, taking into account the regions. Therefore, the programs and schedule of the entrance examinations will be communicated to applicants before the start of the entrance exam.

From 2021, the entrance exam for doctoral studies will be conducted in electronic format. Applicants will write essays on the computer, take a test for readiness to study in doctoral studies and exams in the profile of the educational program.

“For the first time, the entrance exam will be held in electronic format at the testing centers. This format has already been tested at the master's level last year. But this does not mean that the entrance exams will only be in testing format. Future doctoral students will write essays on topics that are approved by the universities themselves. The final grade of the entrance exam is a set of points obtained by summing up the results of the assessment of the essay, the test for readiness to study in doctoral studies and specialized exams, "Adlet Toybaev, Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, explained.

The maximum score for the entrance exam is 100 points, including the essay score - 20 points, the test to determine the readiness to study in doctoral studies - 30 points, and examination questions on the profile - 50 points. A total of 4 hours are allotted for the entrance exam.

In total, in the 2021-2022 academic year, 1,890 grants were allocated for doctoral studies.

Persons with a master's degree and work experience of at least nine months or who have completed residency training in medical specialties can be enrolled in doctoral studies.
