Summer anti-record - Bekshin spoke about the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Almaty

In Almaty, a significant increase in the incidence of CVI "delta" - the strain continues. The chief sanitary doctor of the city, Zhandarbek Bekshin, said this at a press conference, zakon.kz reports.

According to Bekshin, over the past day in Almaty, this summer's anti-record was recorded - 638 new cases of COVID-19. Since the end of June, an increase in the daily incidence has been observed. It has exceeded 600 cases already. It is caused by the spread of the Indian strain of the coronavirus.

“Since the beginning of this year, more than 60 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the city. Since the beginning of July, 4610 cases of CVI have already been reported. Over the past week, 3,085 cases were registered, which is 1.4 times more in comparison with the previous week, ”said the chief sanitary doctor of Almaty.

Bekshin emphasized that the "delta" variant is more infectious and causes severe clinical manifestations.

“Studies have shown that the share of the“ delta ”variant in the total volume of circulating variants of the coronavirus already dominates to a large extent and amounts to 78-80%, in 16% -“ alpha ”(British), in 3% - COVID-19 (Wuhan) variant of the coronavirus, ”Bekshin said.

Over the past 7 days, the increase in the proportion of patients with symptoms has already doubled, that is, from 53% to 88%. The increase in the proportion of patients with symptoms is associated with the prevalence of the pathogenic variant "delta", which causes more severe clinical manifestations.

In addition, Bekshin spoke about the results of the monitoring of the epidemiological situation in Almaty. According to the analysis, the age composition of the cases over the past two weeks has shown the former targeting of the virus to children and young people. Children under the age of 14 are susceptible to infection in almost 13% of cases.

The continuing rise in morbidity among citizens between the ages of 20 and 40 is of greatest concern. It reached the highest level this year - 39%, and also at the age of 40-59 at the level of 25%, that is, every fourth of this age is infected, - Bekshin said.

Along with these data, a 1.6% decrease in the proportion of infections among people over 60 years old is observed as a result of their immunization and less mobility.

To avoid an increase in the incidence, the chief sanitary doctor of the metropolis asked the population to refuse to visit crowded places, not to risk the health and well-being of others.

Bekshin also recalled the need to continue using masks and follow the rules for wearing and changing them.
