On September 27, Serikov Ernest Akimovich turns 80 years old.
Serikov Ernest Akimovich is a candidate of technical sciences, professor of the Department “Thermal Power Plants” of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev.
Ernest Akimovich was born in 1941 in Karaganda, in a family of employees.
After graduating from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1964, he worked at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant as a gas operator for coke oven batteries. Then he worked as a foreman of the waste-heat boilers section, a senior engineer and head of the heat engineering laboratory of the open-hearth shop. In 1966, Ernest Akimovich entered the graduate school of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, which he successfully graduated in 1969.
Ernest Akimovich began to engage in pedagogical work in 1969, first at the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute. Then, since 1975, Ernest Akimovich taught at the Almaty Power Engineering Institute (now the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev). In 2018, Ernest Akimovich was elected professor of the Department “Power Engineering of High-Temperature Heat Technologies” of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University)" (concurrently).
Ernest Akimovich worked at the Almaty Power Engineering Institute from 1978 to 1997 as head of the Department “Heat Power Plants”. Then he became the dean of the Faculty “Heat Power Engineering”. Ernest Akimovich was elected a deputy of the Kalinin District Council of People's Deputies of Almaty (1987-1989).
Ernest Akimovich combined his pedagogical activity with research work. He was a responsible executor and head of various economic contractual and state budgetary projects.
Ernest Akimovich has over 100 scientific and methodological papers. He was awarded the A. Baitursynov Silver Medal "Best Author". His research interests are university problems. Some of Ernest Akimovich's papers are devoted to the problems of environmental protection from industrial pollution, economic assessment of environmental pollution.
Ernest Akimovich is one of the developers of the rating system for assessing students' knowledge (the "RHYTHM" system) and a multi-level education system in the field of Energy and Telecommunications. Ernest Akimovich also took part in the development of international Master's programs in the field of Energy and Sustainable Development under the project 144747-TEMPUS-2008-FR-JPCR.
From 1997 to 2012, Ernest Akimovich worked as vice-rector for educational and methodological work at the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (now the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev).
Serikov E.A. has the academic title "Professor of AIPET". He was awarded seven medals of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Also Ernest Akimovich has the following titles: "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "Honored Power Engineer of Kazakhstan".
