SU GAME JAM 2021 - Create the game of your dreams!

Today the closing ceremony of the first annual Republican festival of game developers "SU Game Jam 2021" was held at the Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev (Satbayev University). A 4-day hackathon with a prize fund of over 1,000,000 tenge was organized by the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies in cooperation with the Independent Youth Community (theHub) and was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Students from all regions of our country came together in a team competition of programmers, 3D and 2D artists, designers, game designers, screenwriters, musicians and many other young professionals from different fields. The goal was to develop innovative, promising and interesting computer games that develop the country's digital market. The theme of the festival was chosen - retro style in the direction of GameDev.

After the opening of the festival, master classes from professional gamedev specialists were held.

3 teams took part from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications:

- Educational Programs "Information Security Systems" (5 students of t III course);

- Educational Programs "Computers and Software" (1 student of II course);

- specialty "Informatics" (2 students of IV course).

IV-year students of the INF-18-2 group, specializing in Informatics, Andrey Chernyshov and Torebek Tomiris, in front of the jury, created a computer game “Left Alone” from scratch. The game was based on the story of how the old cat Jam lost a friend. And his comrade, not leaving a creature close to him alone, decides to give him his best invention. Not listening to the owner, Jam rushes into the box and goes in search of him, quite unexpectedly the creation of an old friend follows him.

The computer game developed by our students received the maximum scores of the jury members. It has retained strong rival teams “IITU” and “Astana IT University”. It took the lead and 1st place, having become the winner of the Republican Festival of Computer Games Developers "SU Game Jam 2021".
