On December 8, 2021, the second and final round of the Russian language Olympiad among first-year students was held. This year the Olympiad was held as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Olympiad "My Languages - My Wings" was dedicated to the topic of trilingual education in Kazakhstan. This year, the faculty of the Russian language section of the Department for Language Studies has slightly deviated from the traditional tasks. They invited their students to demonstrate their knowledge of the Russian language in a different format, in a video format. It was necessary to dub any video plot of an animation, feature or documentary film chosen by the student.
The organizing committee of the Olympiad received 30 applications for participation, but only 15 students were able to cope with the task (taken into consideration the technical difficulties). The jury meeting of the Olympiad was held online, on the Microsoft Teams platform. Videos were assessed according to previously developed criteria. The jury members evaluated the anonymous works, which were assigned serial numbers and only in the final did they recognize the authors of the videos they watched. According to the sum of the points scored, 10 students passed to the semifinals of the Olympiad, and they received the right to participate in the final.
The second stage was held on the educational platform “Kahoot” in the form of an interactive game. After listening to the text "Trilingualism as one of the priorities of modern education", the participants passed the test for understanding the text, knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the Russian language. Thus, the winners of the second round were determined by the game.
