Remembering Erbol Sypatayev...

On December 9, 2021, in the library of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after G. Daukeyev, a meeting of students with the chairman of the organization "Az Zheltoksan" Erbol Abdreshov and other participants in the December 1986 events was held.

The organizer of the meeting, the director of the library Elmira Merekeeva, spoke in her speech about the importance of Zheltoksan for Kazakhstan. She urged students to remember and honor the memory of all participants in those dramatic events. The meeting was moderated by the chief librarian Zhanylgan Bazarbayeva.

The guests were Yerbol Sauleuly Abdreshov - the chairman of the organization "Az Zheltolsan" and Zheltoksanites Orazymbet Nusipakhmetuly Sabankulov, Erenbay Imankulov. Gulshat Beimuratovna Almuratova - deputy director for educational work of the AUPET college, representatives of the organization "Ulagat", library staff and college students took part in the meeting.

The floor was given to the deputy director for educational work of the AUPET college Gulshat Almuratova. After the introductory part, students made presentations, videos and poems about the December 1986 events. They also talked about Kairat Ryskulbekov, Lyazzat Asanova, Sabir Mukhamedzhanova and Erbola Sypatayev, in whose honor a book exhibition was organized.

In 1986, Erbol Sypatayev was a second-year student at our university.  He was loved by his fellow students for his sincerity and kindness; he always stood up for the weak. Zheltoksan residents Orazymbet Nusipakhmetuly Sabankulov and Erenbay Imankulov shared detailed memories of him. They told how in those tragic days Erbol, sacrificing himself, protected the girls from arbitrariness and violence. The dying words of Erbol remained in history: “The girls were saved? I did not go to the square in search of death. Oh my country, what will happen tomorrow? "

On December 23, 1986, Erbol Sypatayev died in hospital from serious wounds. He was 22 years old. He will forever remain in the memory of millions of people, as a real person. Therefore, the chairman of the Az Zheltoksan organization called for raising the memory of Erbol Sypatayev to the status of a symbol of the G. Daukeev Almaty University of Energy and Communications. This is important not only for students, but for the entire country. After all, Erbol Sypatayev did not fail and tried to defend innocent people to the end in the most terrible days in the history of Kazakhstan. We will always remember about his feat and the feat of other heroes of Zheltoksan.
