Day of Power Engineer in Kazakhstan is a professional holiday for all workers and veterans of the energy industry, it is a day of recognition of their merits in the industrial and innovative development of the country, in improving and maintaining the daily life of the population. After all, the tireless work of these people helps to bring light and warmth to homes, enterprises, institutions and life support facilities throughout Kazakhstan.

Let's remember that the tradition dates back to Soviet times. In 1966, this day was established as a professional holiday in tribute to the memory of a large-scale electrification program - the State Commission for the Electrification of Russia. In independent Kazakhstan, the Day of Power Engineer received its official status in 1998, and is celebrated every third Sunday in December. And it is worth noting separately that this holiday falls on one of the shortest light days of the year - the winter solstice, when the work of the power engineer is most noticeable.

Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev is one of the key universities in training specialists for Power Engineers, therefore this holiday concerns us directly. Our graduates took an active part in the creation and development of energy and heat infrastructure, which later determined the economic prosperity and social stability of Kazakhstan. They continue to further support and develop this area.
