Sandugash Orazalieva: Love your job and keep up with the times

The Republican competition "The Best University Lecturer" determines the best of the best in the profession. In an interview, the head of the Department “Electronics and Robotics” of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev Orazaliyeva Sandugash Kudaibergenovna shared her impressions of winning this competition and spoke about the mission of the teacher.

To begin with, we would like to congratulate you on your victory in the competition "The Best University Teacher - 2021". This is a wonderful victory for the entire AUES. What is the secret of your success?

- First of all, thank you, of course. Well, a secret... there is no such thing as a secret. I would like to thank the leadership of our university for their moral support, for their assistance, for their paternal help in the preparation of documents for the competition. Secondly, the secret lies in the fact that we are working here every day to improve the quality of online learning and learning materials in Kazakh and Russian. This is a big job with the portal where we upload video lectures. Thirdly, I recently completed my doctoral studies and defended my dissertation. I have published articles and monographs in peer-reviewed journals. I had internships. All this was evaluated during the competition.

-Work.

- Yes, it was a serious work that is required of us. Conscientious work is always in demand and appreciated.

A lot of effort is required from a university lecturer. We must constantly improve, also keep up with the times.

-What were your feelings when you opened the news and found out that you won?

- I was very happy. I didn't expect it myself. I submitted the documents and did not think about the competition anymore. It was very nice to know that I won the competition. Of course, it inspires to go forward.

-What is the mission of the lecturer?

- This is the preparation of our students and graduates for later life. We need to help them find a career. We should only give some knowledge, but also direct correctly. Thanks to this, we will have first-class specialists who will love their work.

-What changes do you face recently in the educational process?

- This is the transition to distance learning. We had been choosing the right tools for this for a long time, but we decided to open our own portal. Naturally, in such conditions, the lecturer must constantly make adjustments in order to keep up with progress.

-You have won the title "The Best University Lecturer". What is the best student for you? Can you describe?

- For me, the best student is the one who tries to learn. He is always in touch. He asks a lot of questions. Such a student wants to learn something new not only within the framework of this discipline, but more broadly. He must think all-round.
