“Schneider Electric” - practical training at the Department “Automation and Control”

Specialists of the Kazakhstan representative office of the world-famous company "Schneider Electric" have held a practical training for faculty of the Department "Automation and Control" of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (AUES).

Schneider Electric is a recognized world leader in the field of automation and control of power. For "AUPET" this company is a strategic partner. The creation of the “Schneider Electric Competence Center for Industrial Automation” at the Department “Automation and Control” was one of the results of multilateral cooperation.

The technical base of the Center is a unique laboratory of its kind. It is equipped with modern automation equipment and software of “Schneider Electric”. The company provided the university with 12 benches. They cover all the functionality of a distributed automation system - simulation of measuring instruments, frequency converters, actuators, programmable controllers and the Citect SCADA supervisory control system. The equipment and software provided by the company is designed both for the development of various automation systems for industrial facilities in Kazakhstan, and for use in the educational process, along with equipment and software from other world manufacturers.

On the eve of the new, spring semester, specialists of “Schneider Electric” conducted a practical training for faculty of the Department “Automation and Control”. They developed the content of laboratory work and guidelines for them, for example, in such academic disciplines as "Complex of technical facilities for controlling of objects" and "Programming of industrial controllers."

The purpose of the training was to clarify the content of laboratory work and their methodological support, within the framework of which industrial automation equipment and software from Schneider Electric will be studied. The company's specialists answered the faculty’ questions, gave their recommendations on the laboratory work introduced into the educational process.

During the training, an exchange of views was also held and application of advanced technical and software developments of the company Bachelor’s and Master’s programs was discussed.

- Advanced technical and software solutions of various well-known world companies working in the field of industrial automation are studied in the educational programs of our department, - explains the head of the department "Automation and Control" Igor Fedorenko. - Students should know automation tools and software of “Schneider Electric”, not only because it is one of the world leaders in our field, but also this is company actively working in the field of industrial automation in Kazakhstan.

Experienced professors, associate professors of the Department “Automation and Control”, young lecturers, teaching students in subjects related to programming industrial controllers, designing control systems, etc. took part in the last training.
