WE CONGRATULATE GERMAN GENNADIEVICH TROFIMOV ON HIS 80TH ANNIVERSARY!

On February 9, Professor of the Department of Power Supply and Renewable Energy Trofimov German Gennadievich celebrates his 80th birthday.
German Gennadievich graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1965 with a degree in Automation of Production Processes and Distribution of Electrical Energy. After graduating from the institute, German Gennadievich got a job as a researcher at the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Energy named after Sh.Ch. Chokin.
German Gennadyevich has been working at the Almaty Power Engineering Institute (AEI) since its foundation in 1975 and up to the present. Here Trofimov G.G. went from senior lecturer to professor of the department.In the period from 1994 to 1996, he was the Rector of the AIPET. He was the head of the department "Electric Power Systems".
He was a member of the Board of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1995 - 1996.

Since 1997, German Gennadyevich worked as the director of the Department for the operation of electrical networks of the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), and since 1998 he worked as the director of the Energy Saving Department for Almaty.
In 1999, German Gennadyevich was elected president and chairman of the board of the established association of legal entities - the Union of Power Engineers of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He led it until November 2012.
Under his leadership in Kazakhstan, the journal "Energetika" - Bulletin of the Union of Power Engineers was created for the first time. German Gennadyevich was its chief editor (from 1990 to 2012).
German Gennadievich was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Industry of Kazakhstan". He is an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan and the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher School, a member of the International Energy Academy. Also, from 2015 to the present, German Gennadievich Trofimov is an expert of the Federal Register of Experts in the Scientific and Technical Sphere of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Research Institute - Republican Research Scientific and Consulting Center of Expertise" . Trofimov G.G. was an expert of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on energy and renewable energy in Kazakhstan (from 2001 to 2015) and UNESCAP on energy and energy policy and renewable energy in Kazakhstan (from 2009 to 2017). German Gennadyevich in 1996 was a member of the National Accreditation Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the same year was the Chairman of the Educational and Methodological Association of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in energy specialties.
German Gennadyevich was the Chairman of the regional dissertation council for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan (from 1995 to 2010), a member of dissertation councils for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science in the Kyrgyz Republic from 2005 to the present.
Trofimov G.G. is a major specialist in the field of electric power industry and energy saving. He has over 300 published papers and 15 patents for inventions. He is the author of over 9 books. Under the guidance of German Gennadievich 10 Ph.D. theses were defended.
German Gennadievich enjoys great prestige among energy specialists in Kazakhstan, Russia and countries of near and far abroad. He is an expert of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on Energy of Kazakhstan, Honored Power Engineer of the CIS and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
 From 2021 to the present, German Gennadievich lives in Israel, is an academician of the Israeli Independent Academy for the Development of Science.
German Gennadievich was awarded the sign "Inventor of the USSR", diplomas of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Electric Power Council of the CIS.
