Big meeting of the Coordinating Council of University Psychological Services with the support of the Akimat of Almaty \"Safe environment\"

On March 11, 2022, a large meeting of the Coordinating Council of University Psychological Services with the support of the Akimat of the city of Almaty "Safe environment" was held at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. “Unfortunately, due to age, some young people are drawn into bad things. Psychologists of schools and universities are the first to work with such young people, but these efforts are not enough. The need for a unified coordination of psychological services is long overdue in order to prevent any threat to the security of the individual, society and the state. We must use our full potential and work together to develop concept papers and recommendations that will further form a powerful coordination format,” Rector Saule Sagintayeva said.

The Regulations and Roadmap of the Coordinating Council were presented at the event. “The Coordinating Council of Psychological Services “Safe Environment” is a consultative and advisory body created to exchange experience, organize interaction and improve the efficiency of the university psychological services in Almaty. On this platform, we must work together to develop algorithms and solutions in order to continue to qualitatively engage in the prevention of the destructive behavior of student youth. In addition, we need to pay attention to cybersecurity, as recruiters and numerous sympathizers of extremist ideologies are active in the virtual environment. Recent events require us to review existing approaches to ideological work with youth,” said Zarema Abdullina, director of the department "Youth Policy".

The program of the event covered all aspects of the difficult work of a psychologist and psychological service. Not only speakers and speakers, but also ordinary participants were given the opportunity to express their opinion on a particular issue. Such discussions were generally productive for all. At the end of the event, the results were summed up and the work plan of the Coordinating Council for 2022 was approved.
