“Space is not only a frontier, but also a chance to unite humanity in the name of great goals.” Opening of the final of the International Competition \"Kazakhstan Smart Space\"

On April 8, 2022, at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, the opening of the final of the  International Competition "Kazakhstan Smart Space"  was held. The names of the winners will be determined at the end. “On behalf of the management, I am pleased to welcome all participants! Back in 2010, several people at AUPET identified an urgent need for Kazakhstan in highly qualified workers and specialists in the space industry. This prompted us to create the Institute of Telecommunications and Space Engineering. It sets the trend today. The international  competition   "Kazakhstan  Smart Space" is aimed at supporting young talents, who tomorrow, we hope, will become part of the AUPET and will contribute to the development of the entire space industry in Kazakhstan,” said Sergey Konshin, Vice-Rector for Academic Activities.
 
After the opening ceremony, the finalists of the competition were presented. They surprised the jury members not only with their developments, but also with their intellect. “The modern history of mankind was formed thanks to the era of the Great geographical discoveries. Today, tasks of a cosmic scale are facing mankind. Geopolitical tension and the plight of entire ecosystems on the planet are forcing us to look for ways to survive and preserve the human race and civilization. Space is not only a frontier, but also a chance to unite humanity in the name of great goals,” said Raiymbek Abilbek, a participant in the competition, a student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Physics and Mathematics in Almaty and the head of the rocket science club "Rock’n’Plane".
