AUPET Delegation in Germany: ANHALT UNIVERSITY - NEW HORIZONS OF COOPERATION
Anhalt University is expanding opportunities for training Kazakhstani students of Bachelor’s and Master’s programs of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev.
Working projects
After fruitful and successful meetings in Poland with the leadership of universities in this country, the AUPET delegation went to Germany. The purpose of this visit is to work out ways to expand cooperation with the University of Anhalt. Anhalt is a historical region in Central Germany on the territory of Saxony-Anhalt. The faculties of the university are located in three neighboring cities - Köthen, Dessau and Bernburg.
AUPET and Anhalt University are already cooperating in various areas. In 2021, the joint bachelor's program "Systems Engineering" was recruited. Two groups were formed. During all four years of study, students can study German in depth. Starting from the second year, Anhalt University teachers will teach some of the subjects online. Students can go to Germany under the academic mobility program for a certain period. After graduating from the bachelor's degree, graduates of the System Engineering program can continue their further education in master's programs in Germany, both at the University of Anhalt and in other universities in Germany.
At the moment, four students from AUPET are studying in Köthen under the master's educational program "Electrical Engineering and Embedded Systems". According to the decisions made, the first year of study is carried out at AUPET, the second year - in Germany, work on the dissertation and its defense - in the same place. Graduates receive 2 diplomas: Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev and Anhalt University.
Promising directions
Last November, representatives of this German university visited Almaty. Now the time has come for the visit of the AUPET delegation to expand and develop joint activities in the future. Anhalt University President, Professor George Bagdan and AUPET Rector, Professor Saule Sagintayeva discussed and outlined further steps related to both the educational process and possible scientific research. One of these areas was presented by the head of the AUPET department Igor Fedorenko. He spoke about the trajectories of training in the direction of "Automation and Control", the available technical base, software and cooperation with such world-famous companies as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell and National Instruments. In response, the dean of the faculty, Professor Mark Enzmann, expressed interest in joint activities with the Department of Automation and Control of AUPET, positively commented on the curricula presented in this area for Bachelor’s and Master’s educational programs.
Constructive dialogues
The delegation of Kazakhstan had a very fruitful and detailed dialogue with Professor Eduard Siemens. He is the head of the joint master's program "Electrical Engineering and Embedded Systems" from the University of Anhalt. Various schemes for organizing the educational process and algorithms for specific interactions were discussed. An important point of the visit was also a thorough acquaintance with the capabilities of educational and research laboratories in the areas of "Electrical Engineering", "Automation and Control", "Biomedical Engineering" and IT-technologies. University professors Eduard Siemens, Mark Enzmann and John Tumler presented them. Such acquaintance with laboratories and knowledge of their potential will allow organizing the educational process more effectively.
Head of the AUPET “International Department” Madina Aliyarova and leading specialist Aliya Elemanova, together with their colleagues from Anhalt University, Professors of Economics Caroline Scott and Markus Holz, discussed and came to agreements on the structure and content of the joint IBA program "Energy Policy and International Trade". It is designed to improve the skills of managers of enterprises and companies.
The parties plan to discuss the implementation of plans for the coming months in all areas of cooperation in the second half of June 2022 during the arrival of representatives of Anhalt University in Almaty. Cooperation does not just continue - it goes to a qualitatively new level!
