USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Anjali Kaur and EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia Zhujanna Hargitai signed a Memorandum of Understanding.  AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeyev is a trusted partner that USAID is partnering with to improve  curricula of renewable energy  and technical expertise throughout Central Asia.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Kaur said, “The United States and the countries of Central Asia share a common vision to address one of the greatest challenges of our time—the global climate crisis. Just over 40 percent of CO2 emissions from the energy sector worldwide come from electricity generation. Therefore, any effort to mitigate the effects of climate change must include the modernization of electricitrical grid. We are very pleased to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development today to cement our joint efforts to achieve a low carbon future in Central Asia!
