Shafik Chokin is the founder of the energy science of Kazakhstan

Educational event " The scientific founder of Kazakh Power Engineering" was organized by the Department for Language Studies on October 26, 2022. It was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the Kazakh scientist of Power Engineering, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor, honored scientist of Kazakhstan Shafik Chokin.

The academician, scientific founder of Kazakh Power Engineering Shafik Chokin, together with Kanysh Satpayev founded the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. He proved that by turning the Irtysh River it is possible to solve the problem of water supply in central Kazakhstan. Shafik Chokin was the first scientist who considered the issue of turning the Siberian rivers to Kazakhstan and Asia. In 1944-50s, he carefully studied the problem of the integrated use of water and the energy fund of the Ili River. Shafik Chokin made a great contribution to the construction of the Kapshagai reservoir and the Kapshagai hydroelectric power station. 

Guests of honor were invited to the educational event: candidate of technical sciences, deputy director of the college of AUPET Paramonov Sergey Gennadievich; grandsons of Shafik Chokin – сandidate of technical sciences Abishev Shapyk Telmanovich, lawyer of the AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeev Chokin Zhanar Muratovich.

1st year students at the university took part in the event: the team "IT" from the Institute of Information Technologies, the team "Sunkar" from the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electrotechnics, the team "Zalyndy zhastar" from the Institute of Telecommunications and Space Engineering, the team "Zhas Galymdar" from the Institute of Heat Power Engineering and Control Systems. Director of the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electrotechnics Abdimuratov Zhubanysh Suynullaevich opened the educational event.

The educational event consisted of a speech by distinguished guests, a competition among teams of 3 students from different institutions. Under the terms of the competition, the participating teams received tasks in advance. Interviews of colleagues, students and relatives of Shafik Chokin were presented. The video has been shown. An educational quiz on the life and work of the Power Engineering scientist, national hero, academician Shafik Chokin was held in the 2nd stage of the educational event. In addition, the library staff organized a book exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Shapyk Shukin, a member of the Kazakh Energy Science. A student of the group AEMSk-22–1 Yeskozhina Dayana sang the song "Kazakh Eli". The 1st year student of the group ISSk-22–10 Mizami Bereke performed the kui of Kurmangazy “Adai” and Nurgisy Nlendieva “Alkissa”. At the end of the evening, the head of the Department for Language Studies, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Toleup Meirimkul Mukhamedyarovna thanked the distinguished guests and awarded the students who took part in the educational event. 

As a result of the jury 's decision, the teams took the following places:

  1st place - the team "Zhas Galymdar" 

  2nd place - the team "Zhalyndy zhastar"

  3rd place - the team "IT" and the team "Sunkar"  

The purpose of this educational evening was to study the biography and works of Shafik Chokin.
