and computer programs. He has written over 30 articles in the Scopus and Web of
Science databases. He has filed 4 international patent applications. The h-index of
his articles in the Web of Science and Scopus databases is 4. 2 candidates of
physical and mathematical sciences in the specialty "Physical Electronics" were
prepared under his supervision.
S.B. Bimurzaev finished high school in 1959 at the collective farm named
after Stalin in the Zhanakorgan district of the Kyzylorda region. In 1961, he
entered Kazakh State University at the Faculty of Physics and graduated in 1969
(there was a three-year break associated with his conscription into the army (1963-
1966)).
After graduating from Kazakh State University S.B. Bimurzaev was sent to
the Institute of Nuclear Physics, where he worked for 10 years (1969-1979). He
completed his postgraduate studies and defended his candidate thesis.
S.B. Bimurzaev taught at the Kazakh National Medical University named
after S. Asfendiyarov from 1980 to 1995. Then he taught at the Kazakh State
University named after al-Farabi from 1995 to 2003. S.B. Bimurzaev has been
working at AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeyev from 2008 to the present.
Scientific activity of S.B. Bimurzaev was associated with the Institute of
Nuclear Physics. He successfully combined teaching and research activities. He
worked at this institute as a senior researcher from 2001 to 2006. Seitkerim
Bimurzaevich defended his doctoral dissertation in 2005. He was co-leader of 2
projects of the Science Committee of the MES RK on grant funding (2012-2014)
and (2015-2017) . His research interests are time-of-flight mass spectrometry and
electron microscopy. The latest developments of Bimurzaev S.B. serve as the basis
for the creation of time-of-flight mass spectrometry and electron microscopes.
They differ from world analogues in significantly improved characteristics:
resolution and sensitivity.
Scientific papers of Bimurzaev S.B. have been published in prestigious
journals of the world included in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, such
as Nucl. Instr. Meth. Phys. Res. A (Elsevier)", "Int. journal of mass spectrometry"
(Elsevier)", "Microscopy and Microanalysis (Cambridge University Press)",
"Microscopy (Oxford University Press)", "Technical Physics Letters (Springer)",
"Technical Physics (Springer)", etc. They brought world recognition to Bimurzaev
S.B. The research results of Bimurzaev S.B., including formulas for the coefficient
of spherical aberration of electron mirrors, were included in the handbook of
charged particle optics "Handbook of Charged Particle Optics, Second Edition
(CRC Press, Francis & Taylor Group, USA) - 2009" and in the first volume of the
monograph Hawkes P., Kasper E. Principles of Electron Optics, 2nd edn., Vol. 1.
(Academic Press, London) - 2018".
Examples of international collaboration: in 1998, at the invitation of Laval
University (Quebec City, Canada) he gave a course of lectures "Theory and
Calculation of Electron Mirrors" for graduate students and researchers. In 2011,
under contract with Shimadzu Research Laboratory (Europe) Limited, Manchester,
UK, he designed and calculated an aberration corrector for an emission electron
microscope.
S.B. Bimurzaev took part with reports at 15 international conferences on the
optics of charged particles in far and near abroad:
“Charged Particle Optics” (CPO): CPO-5, Delft, Netherlands (1998), CPO-6,
Maryland, USA (2002), CPO-7, Cambridge, UK (2006), CPO-8, Singapore (2010),
SRO-9, Brno, Czech Republic (2014), SRO-10, Miami, USA (2018). All-Russian
Seminar "Problems of Theoretical and Applied Electronic and Ion Optics": 2001,
2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, Moscow.
IX Congress of the All-Russian Mass Spectrometry Society, VIII All-Russian
Conference with international participation "Mass spectrometry and its applied
problems", 2019, Moscow.
Bimurzaev Seitkerim Bimurzaevich led projects under grant funding from
the Committee of Science of the MES RK: "Investigation of the dynamics of
unsteady charged particle fluxes during multiple reflection in transaxial
electrostatic fields" (2012-2014, Institute of Nuclear Physics, co-principal
investigator); "Investigation of the focusing quality of highly dispersive
electrostatic electronic mirrors" (2013-2014, AUPET, co-director); "Development
of new corpuscular-optical control systems of unsteady charged particle fluxes for
time-of-flight mass spectrometry" (2015-2017, Institute of Nuclear Physics, co-
director investigator); "Investigation of relativistic effects on the quality of spatial
and time-of-flight focusing of electron beams in electrostatic mirrors and emission
systems" (2018-2020, AUPET, manager); #AP08855808 "Development of theory
of focusing and aberrations of relativistic energy electron beams in electrostatic
lens-mirror systems and calculation of electronic mirrors of real designs" (2020-
2022, AUPET, manager).
At present S. B. Bimurzaev is the manager of the project #AP14869293
"Study of the effect of higher order aberrations, relativistic and diffractive effects
on the focusing quality of lens-mirror aberration correctors" (2022-2024, AUPET,

Bimurzaev Seitkerim Bimurzaevich was awarded the Medal "100 years of
the plan of the State Commission for the Electrification of Russia" ("Kazakhstan
Electric Power Association", 2020); Breastplate "For merits in the development of
science of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (MES RK, 2021); Anniversary medal "65
years of the Institute of Nuclear Physics" for contribution to the development of
the Institute (Institute of Nuclear Physics, 2022).
