\"AUTOMATATION AND CONTROL\": graduates share their practical experience

Communication with its graduates is a very important activity of the Department “Automation and Control” of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev.

With the help of its graduates, the Department “Automation and Control” (the department was called “Engineering Cybernetics” until 2017) is constantly expanding contacts in all regions of the country with companies and enterprises related to automation, both in production and non-industrial fields.

Currently, many graduates of the department have been established their own firms or hold various management positions in large companies throughout Kazakhstan. For the current students of the specialty “Automation and Control”, this makes it possible not only to pass high-quality industrial and undergraduate practice, but also actually guarantees subsequent employment.

Meetings are very important for the current generation of students, where graduates of past years tell by their example and experience about the practical application of the knowledge and skills that they acquired at the university. Such meetings were held this week by 3rd year students of the Kazakh and Russian departments studying at AUPET under the educational program "Automation and Control". The meetings were held online, since the graduates who participated in them work not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad, for example, in Africa.

            The following engineers of the specialty "Automation and Control", who graduated from AUPET in 2012, took part in the meeting:

- Bekzat Musalimov works in the uranium mining company LLP “Karatau”, engineer of the service of automated process control systems;

- Maksat Lukpanov - engineer of the service of automated control systems for technological processes of the oil producing company “Karazhanbasmunai”;

- Aisholpan Tazabekova - specialist in the field of design and maintenance of automation systems, senior engineer of instrumentation and automation of the company “WoodKSS”. It is one of the world's leading consulting and engineering companies operating in the energy sector in more than 60 countries.

- Nursultan Kzylbayev - Operations Manager at the oil and gas company “Total Eren Services Kazakhstan”. This is the Kazakh branch of the world-famous French oil and gas company “Total”.

- Baubek Saltanov works for “CMI Offshore Group”. He is the Superintendent of Electrical Engineering.

These engineers work in different companies and cities: Bekzat Musalimov - in the Turkestan region, Maksat Lukpanov - in Mangistau, Aisholpan Tazabekova - in Atyrau, Nursultan Kzylbaev - in Kyzylorda. And Baubek Saltanov took part in the online meeting being in Africa - in the capital of Senegal, Dakar.

Each of them spoke about their work activities. They explained what knowledge of what subjects and for what is necessary in practical work. Students received answers to all their questions.

The graduates of the Department “Automation and Control” of the older generation, Azamat Kurmashev and Samat Bekmagambetov, did not stand aside either. They graduated from our university in 1997 - more than 25 years ago!Now they live and work in Atyrau. Azamat Kurmashev is the founder and CEO of a company operating in the field of automation not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad - in the United Arab Emirates. Samat Bekmagambetov works in a different field of activity, but as he noted at a meeting with students, the knowledge of engineering disciplines obtained at the university allows him to realize himself in various fields.

The meetings held showed that "Automation and Control" is a universal specialty. It is in demand all over the world and in any sphere of human activity.
