Prevention of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs) and Influenza
"Every year, during the autumn-winter period, the circulation of influenza and other respiratory infections intensifies, spreading from person to person through airborne droplets, leading to a mass illness in the population, reaching epidemic levels. Influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) are among the most common infectious diseases, accounting for up to 90-95% of the registered infectious diseases each year. According to statistical observations, on average, every adult experiences respiratory infections twice a year.
In light of this, it is necessary to take minimal preventive measures:
- Keep your hands clean by washing them frequently with soap and water and using hand sanitizers.
- Carry disinfectant or disposable hand wipes with you so that you can clean your hands in any situation.
- Avoid touching your mouth, nose, or eyes with unwashed hands (usually, such touches occur unconsciously about 15 times per hour).
- Use personal respiratory protective equipment (masks) in public places, and replace disposable masks every 3-5 hours.
- Avoid close contact with individuals exhibiting symptoms similar to a cold or the flu.
- Maintain a safe distance for infection prevention, at least 1.5 meters between people.
- Regularly disinfect phones, gadgets, and frequently touched surfaces.
It is crucial to seek medical attention when you experience the following symptoms:
- Dry cough
- Fever and chills
- Nasal congestion
- Sneezing
- Loss of smell
- Sore throat
- Muscle pain
- Increased fatigue
- Chest discomfort
During the epidemic spread of diseases, it is essential to follow the recommendations mentioned above and try to avoid mass gatherings, especially in enclosed spaces. Spending more time outdoors and taking care of your health and the health of your loved ones, while following preventive measures for influenza and respiratory viral infections, will help preserve your well-being and enhance your quality of life."
