Energo University is among the four universities in Kazakhstan included in the world ranking of sustainable development of universities by UI GreenMetric

In 2023, Energо University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) took part in the UI GreenMetric World University ranking, which identifies the most sustainable development-oriented universities on the planet.

According to the results of the international Rating Agency UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, our university ranked 468th out of 1183 universities in the world. Among the 18 Kazakhstani higher educational institutions participating in the ranking, Energo University was awarded 4th place.

- When assessing the university's commitment to sustainable development goals, experts considered such parameters as the use of renewable energy sources by the campus, saving water resources, the availability of green spaces and an environmentally friendly waste management program, active educational and research activities in the field of sustainable development, - said Dinara Shuebayeva, a leading specialist in the Department of Publication Activity at Energo University. – In 2024, our university plans to continue participating in this rating and improve its performance.

The University of Indonesia (UI) initiated the World University Ranking in 2010, which later became known as the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. The purpose of the rating is to quantify efforts to maintain the sustainability (environmental friendliness) of campuses.

Participation in the ranking allows universities to expect to receive many benefits, such as internationalization and recognition, increased awareness of sustainability, social change and action, as well as the creation of partner networks.
