A UNIQUE TRAINING LABORATORY FOR THE STUDY OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT OPENED AT ENERGO UNIVERSITY

On March 11, a training laboratory for the study of medical information display devices for students specializing in "Biotechnical and Medical Devices and Equipment" at the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies opened at Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev). The creation of this unique laboratory became possible thanks to the cooperation between the university and the largest Kazakhstani manufacturer of modern medical equipment, "Ordamed". The classroom is equipped with medical information display devices worth a total of 50 million tenge. Among the equipment that students will study are artificial ventilation devices, electrocardiographs, patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, incubators for newborns, high-flow oxygen devices, and others.

- For us, it's a great honor to open this laboratory, offering students who have chosen the profession of medical equipment engineer, the opportunity to practice on the most modern, advanced equipment, - shared the chairman of the board of "Ordamed", Yerkin Dlimbetov. - Thanks to this, graduates of the university will be ready, experienced specialists in the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, whom we will be happy to employ.

Murat Syzdykov, Rector of Energo University, noted the high social significance of the cooperation between the university and business in training personnel and emphasized that investments in education undoubtedly bring the greatest success:

- By opening this laboratory, we together make a contribution to the development of human capital. We aim not just to prepare personnel but also to develop the medical equipment manufacturing industry in Kazakhstan.

"Biotechnical and Medical Systems and Devices" is a technical specialty taught at Energo University based at the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies (which includes departments of IT Engineering, Cybersecurity, Automation and Control). As noted by the Director of the Institute, Igor Fedorenko, starting from 2024, students admitted to this specialty under a dual degree program will also receive a diploma from Anhalt University, which is among the best universities of applied sciences in Germany.

It's important to note that the educational program "Biotechnical and Medical Systems and Devices" includes not only technical but also medical disciplines. Therefore, the educational process is implemented in partnership with both leading medical institutions of the country and companies engaged in the production and supply of medical equipment. For example, the university has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Scientific Center of Surgery named after A. Syzganov.

The opening of the training laboratory with modern medical equipment will allow organizing the educational process in full compliance with the requirements for specialists of this profile. Students will gain practical experience in servicing, operating, and repairing medical equipment, acquire skills in software development, and apply modern methods of diagnostic research, etc. Also, students will have the opportunity to acquire all the necessary knowledge in electronics, computer and microprocessor technology, information technologies.

A notable point is that "Ordamed" has 17 branches in various regions of the country, - emphasized Igor Fedorenko, Director of the Institute of Automation and Information Technologies. - Therefore, students who have come to our university for education from other cities and localities have the opportunity not only to undergo industrial and pre-graduation internships at home but also to find well-paid employment there afterwards. We also hope that the opening of the laboratory, equipped with modern medical equipment, will become an impulse for deepening cooperation and implementing joint educational programs in this direction with such leading Russian universities as Bauman Moscow State Technical University and St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI".
